2023 Insight (Vipassana) Meditation

3-hour sessions

Location

The House of Dhamma

26/9 Latprao Road, Chompol, Jatujak District, Bangkok 10900

near Latprao MRT station, exit 3

These sessions are intended for long-stay visitors or for English-speaking residents in Thailand.

Sessions will usually include a talk related to Buddhist meditation, core teachings, a discussion, question time or mindfulness enhancing activities. Sessions/classes are likely to be quite creative and ideas and comments from participants are very much appreciated.

The classes give simple instruction to the Mahasri Sayadaw method of Buddhist Vipassana meditation which is also taught at Section 5 of Wat Mahadhatu, Tha Prachan, Bangkok.

Classes can also function as refresher sessions for those who are experienced in this practice but who have not meditated intensively for a while.

Hopefully the three-hour sessions will help to build friendships and an active community of like-minded people who prefer to communicate in English, not as formal students, but as active participants in spiritual life but with their feet firmly on the ground.

and they are open both for beginners and for experienced meditators with openness to Buddhist beliefs and practices.

Please send an email request at least 24 hours in advance to dhamma.art@gmail.com
if you would like to join any session.

About the teacher

Meditation instruction will be led
by Acharn Helen Jandamit
(formerly Rev. Saddharma).

Acharn Helen was ordained in the Mook Rim Society (Korean Zen) as a Field Reverend for almost ten years and has had many years of contact with Tibetan Vajrayana as well, but her main practice remains Vipassana meditation in the Thai Theravadan tradition.

She started practicing Vipassana spontaneously at the age of four. She’s been practising for more than
65 years and teaching it for over 40 years.

Most of the teaching has been in Thailand, together with the monks at Mahachulalongkorn Buddhist University and since 1989 with the Young Buddhists Association of Thailand – YBAT, and at her centre ‘The House of Dhamma’ in northern Bangkok, but also on request in Austria, Australia and California as well as London, her home town.

She has received several awards for her Dhamma teaching. On March 8, 2002, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Acharn Helen was honoured as the Foremost Western Woman Meditation Master in South-east Asia.
