There is a a list of dates and times in 2526, which have been reserved for individual counselling for women meditators who practise Vipassana.
Unfortunately, fewer opportunities exist in this country for women to get good Vipassana instruction than exist for men.
Please check the 2526 schedule
at the end of the first webpage.
These are dates and times when, in English, you could receive personalised guidance to help you practise as taught by Mahāsī Sayādaw of Myanmar (Burma).
|
This Theravada way of South-east Asian Buddhism (The Doctrine of the Elders) is over 2,500 years old. Mahāsī Sayādaw U Sobhana was considered to lead the most extensive order of monks and to have trained almost one million people. In Myanmar, he is considered to be fully enlightened.

If you feel you need further guidance for your personal practice, counselling prior to (or after) an intensive retreat could be reassuring.
Previous Instruction may not have been detailed enough or relevant to your personal situation. It may have come from an Ap, or other recording. Unfortunately, Aps are not good listeners.
|
When you go to a large group retreat, you need to research their timetable and method of teaching, Many centres have a tight schedule, where they do not allow much time to answer quetions. You may have to wait a long time before checking something that you are not sure about.
Also, many places expect you to keep silent, not to read, listen to recordings, videos or make or receive phone calls.
In addition, you might not wish other people
to hear what you say.
|
If there is a very large group, you might be too far away from the instructor to see the movements used in walking meditation. If the instructions are conveyed by a video, the quality may be low.
In some cases, instruction may have been in an unfamiliar foreign language or accent.
At home, You may not have been able to delegate sensitive tasks to another trained person and it worries you.
Similarly, the timing of an upcoming meeting can cause you to be away from an important meditation session and counselling could replace the missing information.

A retreat at the Young Buddhists Association of Thailand.
|
A young mother with a demanding job, might appreciate a series of personalised sessions instead of a formal presentation to a large group.
Unfortunately this Vipassana Acharn cannot drive and does not have a car, but if you could arrange suitable transport for an elderly person, she would consider coming
to see you.
